Wokingham Dressage - Intro A 12.06.11

So Lib hadn't been to a show in exactly 2 months today, but we decided to go to wokingham dressage (:  It was her first ever time on the motorway today! (': Good as gold travelling (: We arrived an hour early (unusual-we are usually late!) so she had time to settle down, however, took her for a walk and she was being very full of herself and strong-the spring grass has obviously got the better of her, AND she was in 5-year-old-mode -.- It was raining, but tacked up anyhow and went off to warm up. I had 40 mins till my test, and we usually warm up for 10 (she hardly needs anything or gets bored) so i just walked around and trotted etc. It was a HUGE warm up arena, and was quite busy, so she did get very excited and just could not relax :/ Anyway, went into the field where the tests were done, (there was an arena laid out and the test was on grass) went to walk around the outside, and she did a little buck/hump thing. Weird, she's never done it before, so told her off, and prepared to go in (of course at this point, I was not expecting a great test!) The bell went and as soon as I got into the arena, bam, a nice, soft, relaxed pony? She was really going forward, and came into self carriage every now and then. She kept shaking her head as it was raining and her mane was soaking, and i had to keep getting my reins out the way as they kept getting tangled -.-  came out feeling happy with her, but was not expecting anything as there was about 12 entries, and they were mostly thoroughbred types, and there i was on my trusty little fell :) Went to collect scores, and i had won?! With 76.09%?! Ahaa, absolutely amazed, and so proud of the libster :) Didnt get any pictures and dad started videoing halfway through the test bless him -.-  so no piccies unfortunately, but a happy pony and a very proud person :)

Fell Pony Spring Show

Had an amazing day at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre at the Fell Pony Spring Show today! The atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly, and the weather was gorgeous! This was Lib's first proper big-girl show and the first time she was doing 2 classes instead of just 1.
We were doing Dressage walk/trot and Traditional Ridden Mares. The dressage was between 11 and 12, and you could slip in whenever you wanted. We had arrived at 10, and were all ready to go at 11, so went first. The judge was a tad late, but well worth the wait; she was lovely! (Then they didn't have a bell, so had to find one, which they did) So we set off
When I had finished, I was happy with our test; Libby was much more relaxed than usual, and came onto the bit at times, which again showed she was relaxed (and probably showing off (; ) AND it was her first test in an outdoor school; (more distractions ahaa) when we were warming up she was looking at everything-especially her reflection in the judges hut window! But when we were in the marked out arena, she seemed to focus alot more :) The dressage photographer was Fab and got some lovely shots (I bought 2, but am going to buy another when they are put online!) Anyway, it was a 2 hour wait till our next class, so i decided to collect our dressage scores. There were 3 in our class, and I wasn't expecting anything at all; the other 2 fells were very good! Imagine my amazement when the secretary gave me a lovely red ribbon! I was astonished! But so so proud! I put it on her, took some pics, and then a huge gust of wind blew the tails arouhnd suddenly, and she must have seen it in the corner of her eye cause she just walked backwards, breaking the bailing twine in the process, but we laughed it off, fixed the twine and started to shine her up a bit for our next class.
In the meantime, the judges who had judged our dressage came and talked to us, gave us some advice, and even said that Lib was a show quality animal! Absolute music to my ears, best compliment of the day!!
We then got ready, tacked up and went to TRM. There was a bit of a wait as they were just finishing off WHP, but we went in after a short while and started the go around. The ring next to us was ridden geldings, and Libby was soo good, as they were cantering around next to us, and she didn't even thing about joining in! When we lined up, I thought I'd be a bit clever; I had watch Traditional Geldings/Stallions, and they did their show left to right, and I had never done this class before so I thought, 'well I'll go at the end right side and watch what everyone does' And did they go left to right? No. They went right to left, so while the judge was looking at Lib's conformation, I was rapidly planning a show (I had a rough idea anyway) It went very well, with libby again coming on the bit every now and then. Out of 5, we came 3rd! So I am chuffed to bits with the Plibster!!

Snowball Dressage 20.03.11

Eventful day!
First went to a dressage show in the morning (my time was 8.44am -_- )
Libby was really good at the show, she wouldn't load at first, but we eventually got her in the trailer, and left 20 mins late, leaving us with about 10 seconds to tack up and 10 minutes to warm up, luckily they were running a but late, so we got a couple of extra minutes :) loaded up okayish and went home. :) Checked scores later and came 8/16, and was one point off a rosette! How frustrating! ahaa oh well, she was very well behaved warming up etc, so twas a good day.

Then at home, rode Tilly,( a 15.2 intermediate eventer who is coming back into work after having a foal) and did some jumping! :) So another success!
Then rode Pandy, in practise for my riding school test, and jumped 2ft9 on her :)
Overall, a VERY succesful day!

Upcoming Dressage Cometition :)

So on sunday (20.03.11) we have a dressage test at snowball farm. I still need to learn the test, but at least we'll be more prepared than last time! It's a BD one, and if Lib acts how she did last time, im sure we'll be fine, :)
Wish us luck :)

Dressage Report :)

Hello,
We did a dressage test today at Waylands Equestrian Centre. Even after my realisation that it was on the 27 feb, instead of my initial idea of the 27th march, which I realised the night before! So after some pretty rapid test learning and tack cleanng, we were ready! Libby was brilliant! Especially condidering we had never run through the test!
We arrived, and she traveled very well :) unloaded, and were running a bit late, so it was a bit of a rush, but we got tacked up and went to the dreaded warm up area! There were about 4 horses in at a time, give or take, and except from wanting to meet every single one of them, (in particular a rather handsome skewbald) she was very good! She wasn't going forward, but this was because she was very tense and excited, so i let her off :) I also believe we left our outline at home (;  So she was all warmed up and we went in (it was an indoor school) She was scared of the white boards at first, but got over them after a while, then was absolutely mesmerized at her own reflection in the mirror! We did the test though, and then walked around a bit to give her some experience points, and then went home. I then went back and collected my scoresheet. To my absolute amazement, I had come 3rd(out of about 5-8 people) with 55.3% mostly 5's six 6's and one 7 :) so very pleased with her :)
Next one is 20th March at Snowball farm :)
